Operations & Data  ·  Fully Remote

Building the systems that help great teams do their best work.

I am Angelica G.D. Strawn, an operations manager with ten-plus years across creative production and operations, remote since 2021. I build the reporting pipelines, budget systems, and process infrastructure that let leadership see what is actually happening across distributed teams.

Running distributed teams

Leading team leads, not just contributors. Escalation ownership, contract and security compliance, asynchronous training systems, and performance management, all built and run inside live client accounts across multiple time zones.

Making the work visible

Recurring reporting pipelines from raw task logs to client facing dashboards. Budget tracking, productivity analysis, and effort versus output comparisons that catch what a task count alone would miss. When you cannot walk the floor, the reporting is the visibility.

Scope

What I was actually responsible for

One of two operations managers in a creative department. I owned the entertainment portfolio and all creative training. When the department's other operations manager left, I absorbed her eyewear portfolio for a year on top of my own.

A weekly budget and productivity report, built from scratch, then automated

Sep 2024 to Dec 2025 · still in use

This portfolio came to me when the department's other operations manager left. It spanned traffic, global operations, digital media services, eyewear, vision, and a pay per unit production team, seven leads in all, working remotely. The client had no standing visibility into spend, output, or capacity between invoices, so I built a weekly report from raw task data sourced in ClickUp, aggregated in Google Sheets, and delivered as a Canva templated dashboard.

Over fifteen months the account went through two complete restructures. First a scheme with five numbered effort tiers and combined monthly targets, then a redesigned scheme with per artist quotas across Basic, Intermediate, and Complex bands. The roster changed repeatedly too. The reporting had to survive all of it and stay comparable week to week.

I ran it by hand from the start, then partnered with our internal automation team to automate the pipeline. The client still runs the report today, well after my time on the account ended.

What the reporting surfaced: under the first rate card, a hot month could burn roughly 72% of the cap while photo output still trailed target, a cost per unit problem the weekly view made impossible to miss. After the rate card and quotas were redesigned, peak utilization settled into the 35 to 40% range with output tracking closer to plan. The cap was never exceeded in any cycle across the full engagement.

Top tier escalation ownership for a distributed enterprise account

Quarterly cadence

This was my primary account. I was the highest level point of escalation, managing a remote production, design, and video team while owning NDAs, SOWs, and security protocol compliance directly with the client.

Every quarter I gathered task and time tracking data across the team, then built and presented the Quarterly Business Review myself. Volume by contributor, effort level distribution, task type breakdown, and time spent per product line, across 10+ concurrent titles in a single quarter. I also owned all creative training for the department, building and consolidating the onboarding materials new artists used to get up to speed remotely.

What the data caught: one task type had the fewest tickets but consumed the most hours of any category that quarter. That mismatch is invisible in a task count report. It only surfaced because count and tracked time sat side by side.

Turning an ambiguous research strategy into a runnable roadmap

24 month plan

Working directly with a fully remote founding team, I translated an early, unstructured research strategy into a phased operational roadmap, defining what would be measured, by whom, and at what scale, at each stage. I built the visual framework leadership used to align the team and communicate the plan externally, and served as the operational connective tissue between the CEO, COO, and execution teams across time zones.

From creative production to remote operations leadership

Ten plus years in creative and media, with team leadership beginning in 2022. Fully remote since 2021.

2015 to 2020

Motion graphics and broadcast production

Individual contributor work in motion design across broadcast and streaming media. This is where the craft side of creative was built, and where I learned how creative teams actually run from the inside.

2020 to 2022 · Remote from 2021

Senior multimedia design

Led multimedia and motion work for a streaming platform, going fully remote partway through and coordinating with producers and stakeholders asynchronously across markets.

2022 to 2025 · Remote

Creative operations and team leadership

First time managing teams, and the role grew fast. Creative Lead, then Knowledge and Process Lead, then Engagement Manager and operations manager for the creative department. At peak scope I managed eight team leads across two client portfolios, each running their own team, plus two knowledge and process subject matter experts.

2026 · Remote

Research program and operations, early stage startup

Fractional research operations for a fully distributed founding team. Roadmap structuring, documentation systems, and cross workstream coordination.
